a common question – answered

More than once, brides, grooms, M.O.T.B.’s (Mother of the Bride), have shown concern: Our reception location isn’t very pretty/big/well-lit/etc. Will it look okay in the photographs?

My answer: Yes. Let’s face it, all venues are not created equal. Each have their positive and negative, and that doesn’t mean one is a better fit for everyone than the other. Each couple picks their venue based on their priorities and needs. The couple who has invited 600 guests will have different venue needs than the couple who invited 250, as will the couple who invited 50 guests. In fact, it would be super-boring if EVERYONE used the same venue!:-)Each and every venue has its own unique qualities and photographs differently, which can make it more fun to photograph. My goal, no matter where your reception (or ceremony for that matter!) takes place, is to show your event at it’s best, to the best of my abilities. I take this job very seriously, and will do my best for you!

….and because every post is better with pictures, here are just a few of my favorites from this year’s first dances – trust me, I have more, but just a few so you don’t suffer from image overload! These were all shot in different venues, they all look diferent, and I like them all!

Until next time!

it was a dark and stormy night…

…but the photo session marched on. Barely. At the very end there was a big crack of thunder and we kind of made a run for it, but dang, I think these of Kari and her girls turned out pretty good!

Thanks Kari and family! I will have your gallery up soon!

why trashing the dress is cool….

Check out this story – it’s about my friends David and Amy Lau shooting a Trash the Dress Session. Although we can’t really run into the Atlantic here, there’s always Wilson Lake….or cousin Jimmy’s pond. We can make it happen! Contact me if you are interested in a Trash or Treasure the Dress session with Everyday You – we’ll have fun, I promise!

Last week we almost got rained on…thankfully it didn’t pour, otherwise I couldn’t have spent time with Miss A and Mr B! Just a few for now – your gallery will be up very soon!
